Jobber Review: Hands-On Findings for Service Businesses

Our Jobber review covers tested quoting, scheduling and invoicing workflows, practical drawbacks, plan limits, pricing and who should compare alternatives.

Our assessment

Editorial assessment Jobber is worth considering if you want customer records, quotes, jobs and invoices connected in one system. In our trial, information carried through the tested office workflow without re-entering line items; some controls took time to find on first use.

Check the plan cost before choosing: Core includes one user, while accounting sync, follow-up automation and routing begin at Connect. Our testing ran on a trial account with the Grow plan’s feature set; the scope line below states what was completed, and we did not test the native apps or card processing.

Best fit
A solo operator who wants records, quotes, scheduling and billing connected, or a small team that can justify a higher plan.
Main trade-off
The lowest plan is documented for one user, and accounting sync, follow-up automation and routing begin a plan up.
Starting price
US$49/month for 1 user on the Core plan, month-to-month; US$29/month effective when a year is paid upfront. All prices in USD. Before applicable sales tax. Prices checked .
Testing scope
Core testing closed: 15 of 18 core scenarios complete (latest test ); on a trial account; the native mobile apps and card processing were not tested. See the evidence.

Who Jobber fits

Editorial assessment The lists below are our editorial assessment. The feature facts behind them are vendor-documented and dated on this page; the workflow observations are ours, from the tests further down.

Consider Jobber if

  • You run solo and want the office workflow in one system. Online booking, quoting, scheduling, invoicing, payments and built-in reporting are documented on Core, and the office workflow we tested held together.
  • You quote from a price list and turn quotes into jobs and invoices. In our tests the catalog filled the quote line, the quote converted into a job with its line and total, and the invoice reused the job’s information.
  • You want payment collection built in. Jobber Payments is documented for the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, with ACH in the United States; the pricing guide lists the published rates. We recorded manual payments; we did not process a card.

Compare alternatives first if

  • You are a team of two or more on a tight budget. Core is a single-user plan, and the published multi-user configurations belong to higher plans; the pricing section below shows the step for two people.
  • You need accounting sync, automated follow-ups, routing, job costing or the custom automation builder on the lowest plan. The first three begin at Connect, the last two at Grow.

Verify in your trial or demo

  • The field app, online booking and automated review requests. Jobber documents each of the three; we did not test the native apps, online booking was not reached before our trial ended, and review requests need a Google Business Profile connection we did not make. Untested is not unavailable.
  • Customer notifications on a reschedule. No customer-notification option appeared in the visit editor we used, and we did not verify whether another automation sends an update.

Confirm with Jobber before buying

  • Whether you can keep an existing merchant processor: the published payment rates apply to payments processed through Jobber Payments. Recording a cash payment collected outside Jobber worked in our tests; taking a card payment through another processor inside Jobber was not tested, and Jobber Payments has its own terms and an acceptable-use policy that restricts some business types.
  • Which plan you need for Xero: the vendor documents it on Connect and Grow, and its pages do not settle Plus.
  • Which plan you need for self-serve API access: Jobber documents a public API, but the subscription plan required for a business’s own integration is not stated in the sources reviewed, and inside the account a marketplace search for an API returned unrelated apps, with no developer section under Settings.

What stood out in our testing

Testing status Core testing closed: 15 of 18 core scenarios complete Latest test

15 of 18 core workflow scenarios completed on a Jobber trial account, in 30 recorded passes. Not completed: configure review request (blocked), inspect relevant integrations (first-use pass only) and inspect online booking where supported (not reached). Each finding on this page links to its record on the test-results page. Driver confirmation: the person who drove the sessions has confirmed the written observations on 30 of 36 recorded runs; 6 are pending.

The five findings below are what those tests mean for a buyer; a timing names the pass it comes from and covers only the step it describes.

Quotes carried into jobs and invoices without re-entering the line items

Hands-on verified

We created a quote for the synthetic customer with a catalog service as its only line; picking the item filled the line, and the draft saved in one click. Converting the quote populated the job with its customer, line and total, and an invoice created from the job reused the same information. In our first-use pass a draft quote converted without being marked approved; in the repeat pass we marked it approved first, one click. A job started from the jobs list has no field to link a quote.

Check the conversion defaults before saving: our job took today’s date, the account owner as assignee and billing on completion, with an invoice row already waiting. We tested approval inside the account, not a customer’s acceptance; nothing was sent.

Evidence Quote and invoice tests (A-03, A-04, A-05, A-09)

Catalog and job-note controls took time to find

Hands-on verified

The service catalog is not in the left navigation: it sits under the account menu, then Settings, then Products & Services, and our first-use pass took about five minutes to find it, with a web search logged as help. On a job, two fields look like the place for a note; the notes panel shows its text box and attach control only once opened, and the first pass took about seven minutes, with an abandoned new-job draft lost silently.

On the repeat passes, with the paths known, neither needed help; the timings are on the test-results page. The item form has no category field, and Jobber refuses a duplicate catalog name outright where the client form asks for confirmation.

Evidence Catalog and job-note tests (A-02, A-08)

Scheduling, assignment and repeat work each need deliberate settings

Hands-on verified

In the path we used, a visit’s date and time are set separately: a time means unticking an “Anytime” toggle, and changing the date kept the existing time. On the repeat pass the schedule and the reschedule took about 24 and 23 seconds from their markers. Assignment is an edit of the visit’s Team field with no confirmation. A yearly recurring job uses the same form as a one-off job; “Ends after” counts days, weeks, months or years rather than visits, and billing frequency is set apart from the visit schedule.

Both date and time were checked before saving. No customer-notification option appeared in that editor; we did not verify whether another automation sends an update. Our trial held one seat, so a second user’s experience was not tested.

Evidence Scheduling, assignment and recurring-job tests (A-06, A-07, A-11)

Customer history and payment records stay connected

Hands-on verified

The customer record is a single-page form with one save; a client resembling an existing one triggers a “Possible duplicate client” confirmation rather than a block. The customer’s profile carries quotes, jobs, invoices and billing with no separate history screen. In both passes we recorded a manual cash payment against the test invoice from its More menu (“Collect Payment”): one pre-filled form, one save, and the invoice read Paid with a zero balance on the invoice, in the payments list and in the invoice list.

The profile’s default filter hides converted quotes until switched to “All”. Card processing through Jobber Payments is a separate setup we did not use; its rates are documented on the pricing guide, not tested.

Evidence Customer record and payment tests (A-01, A-10, A-14)

Reminder settings and exports have practical limits

Hands-on verified

Several client reminders and follow-ups were already on by default; editing one is a single dialog with two timing fields and a message template, saved and shown as active. The clients report exports in two clicks from a labelled Reports hub. Nothing downloads in the browser: a banner says the file will arrive by email within about 15 minutes, and our export arrived after the session and was checked off camera.

The reminder rules have no name and no per-client target, our trial displayed a paid-plan restriction on the text-message version, and we did not verify that a message was delivered.

Evidence Reminder and export tests (A-12, A-15)

Jobber pricing and plan limits

Prices in USD, standard month-to-month, checked October 13, 2026. Before applicable sales tax.

Plan Monthly Users
Core $49 1
Connect $139 1
Connect · 5 users $199 5
Grow $199 1
Plus $499 5
Standard month-to-month prices.

Each plan's smallest published configuration, plus the cheapest published multi-user bundle; a one-user price is not the cost of adding a user, and larger published bundles run to $699/month. Annual rates, every configuration, fee statuses and the vendor-page conflicts are in the Jobber pricing guide.

For 2 to 5 users, the least expensive published bundle is Connect at $199/month: $150/month more than one-user Core. Both figures are standard month-to-month prices; this is a bundle price, not a per-user add-on.

  • Connect: Automation, accounting integrations, routing, time tracking, and the published multi-user bundles.
  • Grow: Job costing, two-way texting, advanced quotes and custom automations.
  • Plus: Files and media library, crew scheduling and team mentions, automated job costing, custom reports, the included add-ons, Premium Support and onboarding.

Trial: 14-day free trial, no credit card required. The Jobber pricing guide has the full plan matrix, annual commitments, the cost by team size, fees and what the vendor does not publish.

Limitations to check before choosing

What we observed

Hands-on verified Observed in our runs:

  • Findability is the first-use cost: the service catalog and the job notes panel took minutes to find and seconds to use afterwards.
  • Defaults decide for you: a converted quote’s job takes today’s date, the owner as assignee and billing on completion, and a job started from the jobs list has no link back to a quote.
  • No customer-notification control appeared in the visit editor we used; client reminders are account-wide rules with no per-client target; and the clients report arrived by email rather than as a download.

Coverage limits and documented availability

Vendor-documented The “Documented” parts below come from Jobber’s own pages. Where an item says what we observed, that sentence is hands-on verified from our runs; the outcome named as not tested stays not tested:

  • The native mobile apps. Documented: iOS and Android apps are listed on each plan, with job details and checklists in the field and push notifications for schedule changes; routing and GPS tracking start at Connect, and automatic, location-based time tracking at Grow. Observed: our small-screen inspection covered the web app in a 400-pixel browser window, where the client and job screens were usable; the schedule screen and a desktop comparison were not on camera. Not tested: the native iOS and Android apps.
  • Card processing. Documented: Jobber Payments handles card payments on each plan in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, with ACH in the United States and instant payouts in the United States and Canada, and the rates are on the pricing guide. Not tested: no card was processed through Jobber Payments.
  • Online booking. Documented: listed on each plan. Observed: the settings were not reached before the trial ended. Not tested: the booking flow.
  • Review requests. Documented: Jobber documents automated review requests. Observed: on our trial account, the Reviews section under Marketing showed a promotional page whose controls were part of its images, and the account’s connections settings required a Google Business Profile connection our testing rules do not allow. Not tested: sending a review request.
  • The integrations. Documented: the QuickBooks Online listing named no plan requirement beyond a QuickBooks account, and the Xero listing named Connect and Grow. Observed: the marketplace was inspected once, with nothing connected. Not tested: no sync was connected or run.

Plan availability and scope: the vendor's pricing comparison table and help documentation, checked between October 5 and October 13, 2026; the observed column: our preserved test runs, most recently September 9, 2026, each dated in its numbered note. "From" names the lowest plan the vendor documents as including the capability; "Not stated" means the vendor's pages do not say. The numbered notes under each table quote the vendor's page for the row.

  1. Customer records (CRM): Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-01 create customer, completed 2026-09-02, and A-14 find customer service history, completed 2026-09-09; human-driven): a client record was created from the standard synthetic fixture and confirmed on the record page and in the client list; the client's profile page carries the customer's quotes, jobs and invoices in a Work overview with type and status filters (the default Active filter hides converted quotes; 'All' shows the whole history) and a Billing section listing invoices and payments, with no separate history screen to find. The pricing table separately lists 'Client manager (CRM)', 'Client hub', 'Requests' and 'Lead management' on every plan (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05). Saving a client that resembles an existing one triggers a 'Possible duplicate client' confirmation.
  2. Scheduling: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-05 create job and A-06 schedule / reschedule job, human-driven, completed 2026-09-09): a one-off job for the standard synthetic customer with the catalog item as its line and one visit on a fixed date was created from the Jobs list and confirmed on the job page and in the client's work overview; the visit's date and time were then set, saved, moved to another day and time and saved again, and the change persisted on the job. The new-job form offered no field to link an existing quote, the visit's assignee defaulted to the account owner, changing the visit's date did not reset its time fields, and no client-notification control appeared in the visit editor. Vendor documentation (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): 'Scheduling' on every plan; 'Find a Time' (travel-aware recommendations) from Grow.
  3. Routing and GPS tracking: 'Routing' and 'GPS tracking' are 'Not Available with Core' and available from Connect. Hands-on (A-07 assign technician, runs STS-TEST-JOBBER-CORE-2026-029 and -030, completed 2026-09-09, trial account): assigning a team member to a job's visit is an edit of the visit's Team field from the job's scheduled-visit list (a few clicks and a save, no confirmation step, no notification sent); the visit's assignee defaults to the account owner, and saving an unchanged assignment shows 'No changes made'. The account held one seat ('1/1 seat assigned'), so the owner was assigned in place of the fixture technician; routing and GPS tracking were not exercised.
  4. Quotes (estimates): Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-03 create estimate and A-04 approve / convert estimate, human-driven, completed 2026-09-04): a quote for the standard synthetic customer with the catalog item as its line was created and saved as a draft, the total confirmed on the saved quote and in the quote list, with the catalog item filling the line's name, description, quantity and unit price; a draft quote was marked approved inside the account in one menu click and converted into a job from the quote's header button, the job form pre-filled from the quote; a draft quote also converted directly without an approval. Vendor documentation (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): 'Quoting' on every plan; 'Advanced customization' (images; reviews on quotes also require the Reviews add-on, per the table's footnote) and 'Optional add-ons and markups' from Grow; 'Auto-drafted quotes' from Connect.
  5. Invoicing: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-09 create invoice, human-driven, completed 2026-09-09): an invoice for the synthetic job was generated with the job's line and total filled by the product, saved unsent as a draft through the plain half of a save-and-send split button, and confirmed on the invoice page (which names its source job) and in the Invoices list; from the job's own More menu the new invoice opens already scoped to that job, while the Invoices area's path asks for the client and then which of the client's jobs to bill. Vendor documentation (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): 'Invoicing' and 'Progress invoicing' on every plan; 'Automated invoice follow-ups' from Connect; 'Images and attachments on invoices' from Grow.
  6. Payments: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-10 record payment, human-driven, completed 2026-09-09): a manual cash payment was recorded against the synthetic invoice from the invoice's More menu (Collect Payment) in one pre-filled form and one save; the invoice read Paid with a zero balance at once, on the invoice itself, in the Payments list and in the Invoices list. The payment-method list offered cash, check, credit or debit card, e-transfer, PayPal and other, with no sandbox or test mode; card processing through Jobber Payments was offered as a separate setup and was not used. Vendor documentation (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): 'Credit card processing', 'Tip collection', 'Tap to Pay', 'Bank payments (ACH)' and 'Instant payouts' are listed on every plan (rates on the pricing page); 'Automatic payments' from Connect, available in the US and Canada. Country limits per the help center: ACH in the United States only; instant payouts for US and Canadian users; Jobber Payments itself in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
  7. Online booking: 'Online booking' on every plan. The hands-on inspection (A-18, run STS-TEST-JOBBER-CORE-2026-024, 2026-09-09) was cut short by the trial ending before the Online Booking settings were located; not verified in the product.
  8. Recurring jobs: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-11 create recurring job, human-driven, completed 2026-09-09): a recurring job for the synthetic customer with the catalog line, repeating yearly from a fixed first visit, was created from the same New Job screen as a one-off job (a One-off / Recurring toggle) and confirmed on the saved job (Schedule: Yearly; the future visits listed individually). The recurrence editor's 'Ends after' accepts a count of days, weeks, months or years, not a number of visits; billing frequency is set apart from the visit schedule, and an upcoming invoice row exists before any visit has taken place. Vendor documentation (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): recurring visits are part of 'Scheduling' (every plan); charging saved cards for recurring work ('Automatic payments') starts at Connect.
  9. Job details and attachments: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-08 add job notes / photos, human-driven, completed 2026-09-09): a text note with an attached image was added to the synthetic job from the job page's Notes panel (the 'Attach files & photos' control appears once the note is opened) and shown on the job record as an authored, timestamped note with the image. On first use the line item's own description field was taken for the notes field before the Notes panel was found. Vendor documentation (checked 2026-09-01, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): 'Job details and attachments' (notes, photos, attachments from the field) on every plan; 'Files and media library' is Plus-only.
  10. Mobile app: 'Mobile app' (iOS and Android, Spanish available for team members) on every plan. Hands-on (A-16 inspect mobile / responsive workflow, runs STS-TEST-JOBBER-CORE-2026-021 and -022, completed 2026-09-09): Jobber's web app in a 400-pixel browser viewport (device emulation, not the native app) collapsed to one column with a Menu drawer; the client list, a client profile, the jobs list and a job record with its note and photo-attachment control were usable. The native iOS and Android apps were not tested.
  11. Accounting sync: 'QuickBooks Online and Xero sync' - 'Not Available with Core', available from Connect. The FAQ names QuickBooks Online only; the table names both. Per-integration facts (markets, plan wording, sync direction) are in the integrations table; Xero on Plus is unresolved: the Xero article names Connect and Grow and is silent on Plus. In-product inspection (A-17 integrations, run STS-TEST-JOBBER-CORE-2026-023, first-use pass, 2026-09-09): the App Marketplace's QuickBooks Online listing named no Jobber plan requirement (a QuickBooks Online account is needed); the Xero listing read 'The Xero integration is only available on Connect or Grow plans in Jobber'; Zapier opens Jobber's own settings page with workflow templates; a marketplace search for 'api' returned three unrelated apps and Settings holds no developer or API item. Nothing was connected.
  12. Automation: 'Automated client notifications', 'Automated follow-ups', 'Automated invoice follow-ups' and 'Automatic payments' start at Connect; the 'Custom automation builder' starts at Grow. Hands-on (A-12 configure reminder, runs STS-TEST-JOBBER-CORE-2026-015 and -016; A-13 configure review request, runs -017 and -018; completed 2026-09-09 on a trial account, which runs the Grow feature set): several client-facing reminders (assessment reminder, visit reminder, job follow-up) were already on by default under Settings > Emails & Text Messages, and a reminder's timing was edited and saved in one dialog; the rules cannot be named or aimed at one client, and the text-message version is offered 'on paid plans' only. The review-request feature (Marketing > Reviews) showed a promotional page only and, per Settings > Account Connections, needs a connected Google Business Profile, which the test rules do not allow; no review request could be configured.
  13. AI assistants: 'Jobber AI Voice' and 'Jobber AI Chat' are available on every plan. Capabilities differ by user role (help article updated 2026-06-16, unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-13): admins get Chat and Voice, non-admin users chat-only product support, and Plus extends mobile Voice to non-admin users; 'Jobber AI Voice for Field Workers' is the table's Plus-only row. 'Receptionist' (AI call and text answering) is an add-on on Core, Connect and Grow and included on Plus.

Vendor-documented Every row in this table is vendor-documented.

Integrations and API surfaces whose plan availability the vendor states on its pricing table, features page or help center. An integration's own terms, markets and sync direction can differ from the product's. Marketplace listings with no stated plan gate are not shown here.

  1. QuickBooks Online: 'QuickBooks Online and Xero sync - Not Available with Core', available from Connect; the Connect plan help article lists the QuickBooks Online integration.
  2. Xero: Help article (updated 2026-08-11; unchanged on re-reads through 2026-10-05): 'The Xero integration is available in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand on the Connect and Grow plan.' The pricing table's combined row implies availability from Connect upward; the article does not name Plus. Recorded as written; Plus is unresolved because the article is silent on it (see the pricing guide's verification notes). The in-account App Marketplace listing read on 2026-09-09 (run STS-TEST-JOBBER-CORE-2026-023): 'The Xero integration is only available on Connect or Grow plans in Jobber.'
  3. Zapier: 'Zapier - Not Available with Core', available from Connect.
  4. Home Depot: 'Home Depot' available on every plan.
  5. Gusto: 'Gusto - Not Available with Core', available from Connect.

Integrations, AI and support

Integrations, automation and AI. QuickBooks Online sync, automated client notifications and follow-ups start at Connect; Xero is documented on Connect and Grow as a one-way sync in five markets, with Plus unsettled; the custom automation builder starts at Grow. Jobber documents a public GraphQL API without stating which plans may use it for their own integration. Jobber AI Chat and AI Voice come with each plan for admin users; the Receptionist, Jobber’s AI call and text answering, is included with Plus and a monthly add-on elsewhere.

Support and onboarding. Published channels are phone, email, in-app chat and a help center, with weekday hours and an AI assistant outside them; Jobber’s help center and its contact page state different phone numbers and hour ranges, so our record keeps both and treats the hours as unconfirmed. Onboarding sessions are gated by plan; the dedicated onboarding specialist and Premium Support are Plus features.

Jobber for your trade, and alternatives

A trade decides software fit by its own workflow, not a feature list, so trade fit lives on the trade guides. For a chimney business, none of the following is verified for Jobber yet: inspection forms and reports tied to a specific chimney system, recurring recall cycles configured to the company’s own policy, property-level photo history that survives between visits, and seasonal scheduling under fall and winter load. Start with the chimney sweep software requirements guide, or the guides for painting contractors, mobile detailing, pressure washing and window cleaning, each reachable from the trade finder.

  • Housecall Pro

    Why compare it
Another broad field-service platform with an advertised card rate and a stated bank-payment rate, so plan and payment costs can be compared on documentation.
    Testing status
Testing in progress: 11 of 18 core scenarios complete (latest test October 12, 2026)
  • QuoteIQ

    Why compare it
An all-in-one platform positioned at chimney, exterior-cleaning and detailing trades, which makes it the natural specialist comparison; its own trade comparisons count as the vendor's marketing, not as independent evidence.
    Testing status
Not yet tested; product facts documented (latest source check October 9, 2026)

No comparative verdict yet: plan and price comparisons use dated documentation, a performance comparison needs comparable hands-on evidence for the workflows that decide it, and a less-tested product is not a worse one.

Is Jobber a reasonable option for a solo operator?

On the documentation, yes: the lowest plan lists the office workflow, online booking, payments and, according to Jobber, the native app for one user. In our tests that workflow held together from the customer record to a recorded payment. We did not test the native app; accounting sync and certain automations require higher plans.

What changes when a second person needs access?

The published path to a second user is a higher plan’s bundle, not a per-user add-on on the lowest plan; the pricing section above shows the published configuration for two people and its cost. A second user’s own experience, invitation, permissions and notifications were not tested: our trial held one seat.

What did you actually test about payments and mobile use?

Manual cash payments recorded against test invoices in the first-use and repeat passes, each shown as Paid on the invoice, in the payments list and in the invoice list, and a walk through the web app at a 400-pixel browser width. No card was processed and no native app was opened; those remain what Jobber documents.

What should a chimney business verify before choosing?

How inspection documentation attaches to a property and a chimney system, how a recall cycle is configured to the company’s own interval, and whether photo history survives between visits. None of that was tested; the chimney sweep software requirements guide lists the questions to put to a demo.

How we tested, and sources

Fifteen of eighteen core scenarios were completed on a Jobber trial account, each in a first-use pass and a repeat pass driven by a person in an ordinary browser on synthetic data; Jobber’s terms prohibit automated access, so no automation touched the product. The run-by-run record is on How we tested Jobber: test results and evidence, and how we test and rank software explains the evidence rules this page follows. Pricing, fee and billing sources are on the Jobber pricing guide; the sources below support the product, plan, integration and support claims on this page. Where Jobber’s pages disagree, the record keeps both statements and marks the issue unresolved.
