Our assessment
Editorial assessment Housecall Pro is worth considering if you want customer records, estimates, jobs and scheduling connected in one system from the lowest plan. In our trial the office workflow carried a customer from a new record to an approved estimate, a job, a scheduled visit, a sent invoice and a recorded payment without re-entering line items; some controls took time to find on first use, and one price-book default needed a correction each time.
Check two things before choosing: recurring service plans begin on the top plan, Max, and no plan below it publishes a per-user rate. Our testing ran on a trial account with that plan’s feature set, so a workflow that completed for us is not proof that it exists on Basic or Essentials: which plan carries a feature is what the vendor documents, and the plan lines on this page come from its pages. The scope line below states what was completed; we did not take a card payment, set up a review request or open the native apps.

- Best fit
- A solo operator who wants customer records, estimates, jobs, scheduling, online booking and payments on the lowest plan, or a team that will pay for the second plan's photo reports and accounting sync.
- Main trade-off
- Recurring service plans, route optimization and the open API begin on the top plan, and no plan below it publishes a per-user rate, so a two-person business has no published price under the five-user bundle.
- Starting price
- US$79/month for 1 user on the Basic plan, month-to-month; US$59/month effective when a year is paid upfront. All prices in USD. Before applicable sales tax. Prices checked .
- Testing scope
- Testing in progress: 11 of 18 core scenarios complete (latest test ); on a trial account with the top plan's feature set; the untested buying risk is card payment through the vendor's payments product, review requests, which needed an outside account connection, and the native mobile apps, which were not opened. Who Housecall Pro fits
Editorial assessment The lists below are our editorial assessment. The feature facts behind them are vendor-documented and dated on this page; the workflow observations are ours, from the tests further down.
Consider Housecall Pro if
- You run solo and want the office workflow on the lowest plan. Online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments, a price book, job costing and review management are documented on Basic, and the customer, estimate, job, scheduling, invoice and payment steps we tested held together on the trial.
- You estimate from a price book and turn estimates into jobs. In our tests the price-book item filled the estimate line, the estimate was approved and copied to a job from its approval step (one combined confirm in the first pass, approve then copy in the repeat pass), and the job opened with the estimate recorded as won and copied to it.
- You dispatch to technicians who are still being onboarded. A field technician we added could be assigned to a job before accepting the invitation, with no seat charge on the trial, and the job listed the technician as assigned.
- You invoice from the job and record payments taken outside the software. In our tests the invoice opened from the job already numbered with the job’s line and total, sending it by e-mail took two clicks, and a cash payment was recorded against it in one step; the customer’s record then listed the jobs and both invoices.
Compare alternatives first if
- Your revenue depends on recurring service plans. They begin on Max, two plans above the entry price; a business that bills on annual service agreements should price that plan, not the entry one.
- You need a published price for a second user. Basic seats one user and Essentials five; neither prints an additional-user rate, and only Max prints $35 per additional user/month.
- You rely on the software to catch duplicate customers. In our tests a second customer with the same name, email and phone saved with no warning; the two records were told apart only by their company field.
Verify in your trial or demo
- Card payments and receipts. The payment dialog’s card tab asked us to connect a bank account before a card could be charged, and it offers no test mode; we recorded cash payments only. The card flow, and whether a receipt goes out when the receipt field is left filled, remain to be tested in your own account. Untested is not unavailable.
- Review requests. The Reviews setup wizard lists a Google account and a Facebook account connection before its automatic-request step, and the page says to connect one to get started; our test rules do not allow connecting an outside account, so we did not set up a request. Check whether the wizard lets you skip the connections.
- The field app, recurring service plans, reminders, exports and online booking. Housecall Pro documents each; none was reached in our first two sittings, and the native apps were not opened.
- Customer notifications on a change. The new-customer form’s “Send notifications” box was on by default; our driver switched it off before saving, and the saved profile read “Notifications enabled: No”. The schedule editor’s “Notify customer” box was off in our runs and was left off. We did not test which email, text or push messages a customer receives when either control is on.
Confirm with Housecall Pro before buying
- The actual card rate for your account and card types, any fixed per-transaction fee, and the countries the payments product serves: the card rate is advertised as a starting rate, and no country is named for the payments product.
- Whether a lower plan can add users by quote, and at what rate.
- Whether the introductory rate printed on each plan card applies to annual billing, and what follows it: each card prints the promotional amount and its duration but no eligibility terms and no closing date for the offer; the pricing guide records the offer as we read it.
- What CSR AI call answering, the sales proposal tool below Max and the other listed products cost on your plan, and the refund position before prepaying a year: the terms say subscription fees are not prorated or refunded except as the agreement sets out.
What stood out in our testing
Testing status Testing in progress: 11 of 18 core scenarios complete Latest test
11 of 18 core workflow scenarios completed on a Housecall Pro trial account, in 22 recorded passes. Not completed: create recurring job (not run), configure reminder / follow-up (not run), configure review request (not completed), export / report data (not run), inspect mobile / responsive workflow (not run), inspect relevant integrations (not run) and inspect online booking where supported (not run). Each finding on this page links to its record on the test-results page. Driver confirmation: the person who drove the sessions has confirmed the written observations on 22 of 28 recorded runs; 6 are pending.
The seven findings below are what those tests mean for a buyer; a timing names the pass it comes from and covers only the step it describes.
Customer records save in one form, and a duplicate saves without a warning
Hands-on verifiedThe new-customer form was two clicks from the dashboard: one long page for contact details, address, notes and payment terms, saved with one button. In the repeat pass the form took about a minute and a half to fill, about twenty seconds of it correcting the address after a Google suggestion replaced the typed street, and the save landed on the new profile about two seconds later. The mobile phone field accepts only a ten-digit North American number.
Check the defaults before saving: “Send notifications” was on for a new customer, and the saved profile showed email marketing consent as opted in. A second customer with the same name, email and phone saved with no duplicate prompt; the company field was what told the two apart in the customer list.
Evidence Customer record tests (A-01)
The catalog item lives under 'Pricing forms', and the first pass took minutes to find it
Hands-on verifiedHousecall Pro’s price book holds Services, Materials, Pricing forms, Estimate templates and Discounts, and the item we created with a name, a price, a duration and a description saved as a pricing form. On first use the path took about eight minutes to find, by way of the service-plan template, the settings and a stock-service catalog grouped by industry, with no help used. On the repeat pass, with the path known, the item was created in about two minutes, including a pause to re-read the task.
The form has no category field, so a catalog category from our fixture could not be entered, and a second item with an identical name saved with no warning. The estimate and job forms later listed both entries under the same name.
Evidence Price book tests (A-02)
An estimate is approved and copied to a job from its approval step, but a price-book line starts at zero quantity
Hands-on verifiedA new estimate opened from a one-click shortcut on the dashboard, with the customer and the service added on the same form; in the repeat pass it was open within about fifteen seconds of starting and saved as an unsent draft about three seconds after the click. Approval is a step on the estimate’s own progress bar, Approve or Decline behind a confirmation that cannot be undone. The confirmation carries a “Copy to new job” box: ticked, the first pass approved and converted in one click; left unticked, the repeat pass approved, then converted through the separate “Copy to job” step, two clicks more. Either way the converted job opened unscheduled, with no date prompt and no customer message.
Check the quantity before saving: picking the service from the price book brought in its price but set the quantity to zero in both passes, so the line showed a zero amount until the quantity was raised to one. After approval the estimate’s header badge lagged its progress bar until the page was reopened.
Evidence Estimate and approval tests (A-03, A-04)
Jobs start from their own form with no link to an estimate, and scheduling is one editor with separate date and time fields
Hands-on verifiedA job created from the dashboard’s new-job form took a little over a minute in the repeat pass, from opening the form to the saved job, with the customer, a price-book line, a date and a private note on one page. The form has no field for linking an existing estimate, and it filled a default evening arrival window. Scheduling and rescheduling both run through the job page’s Schedule button, a full-screen editor with separate start and end date and time fields beside a week calendar; the reschedule took about ten seconds of editing in the repeat pass, and the new slot was on the job within about two seconds of Save.
Check the editor’s prefilled time: it opened with a start time that did not match the job’s saved slot, and the end time followed the start time on the reschedule but not on the first edit.
Evidence Job and scheduling tests (A-05, A-06)
A technician can be assigned before accepting the invitation, with no seat charge on the trial
Hands-on verifiedWe added a field technician under Team & Permissions with “Save and send invitation”, to a synthetic address that cannot receive mail; no payment, seat or card prompt appeared on the trial. The technician could then be assigned to a job while the invitation was still pending, through an “Edit team” dialog opened from a pencil icon beside the job’s current assignee. In the repeat pass the assignment took a few seconds once the job was open, and the job listed the technician as assigned with a dispatch entry in its activity feed.
Check what the technician receives: the save showed no confirmation and no option to notify, and whether a push or an e-mail goes out is not something a screen recording of the office side can show.
Evidence Technician assignment tests (A-07)
An invoice is kept by sending it, and an offline payment is one click
Hands-on verifiedOpening the invoice from a job produced a numbered invoice with the job’s line and total already filled; the screen offers print, download and send, with no save or draft control. In our first sitting we left it without sending, and no invoice record existed afterwards. In the retest, Send opened a dialog already addressed to the customer, with a subject, a message and the PDF, by e-mail only; about four seconds after Send the job showed the invoice as sent, the dashboard counted one more open invoice, and the customer’s record listed it with its send time. A payment is recorded from the invoice or from the invoices list in a dialog with card, cash, check and other tabs; a cash record took one tab change and one click, and the invoice read paid on the list within seconds.
Check two things: the card tab asked for a bank connection before a card could be charged, with no test mode, so card processing is what the vendor documents; and the reopened invoice document still printed the full amount due after the payment, so read the paid state from the invoices list or the dashboard.
Evidence Invoice and payment tests (A-09, A-10, A-14)
Job notes and photos are panels on the job page and save on entry
Hands-on verifiedA private note and a photo were added from two panels on the job page itself, below the schedule and invoice sections; each was committed as entered, with no save button, and the job’s activity feed logged both with the time. Reopening the job showed the note text and the photo thumbnail in place. The upload is the browser’s plain file dialog, with no in-product capture, annotation or report step on this path, so the vendor’s photo reports and annotations feature is not what these runs exercised.
Check the privacy default: the notes panel is private by name and offers no switch to share a note with the customer.

Housecall Pro pricing and plan limits
Prices in USD, standard month-to-month, checked October 12, 2026. Before applicable sales tax.
| Plan | Monthly | Users |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | $79 | 1 |
| Essentials | $189 | 5 |
| Max | $329 | 8 |
Each plan's smallest published configuration; a one-user price is not the cost of adding a user. Annual rates, every configuration, fee statuses and the vendor-page conflicts are in the Housecall Pro pricing guide.
For 2 to 5 users, the least expensive published bundle is Essentials at $189/month: $110/month more than one-user Basic. Both figures are standard month-to-month prices; this is a bundle price, not a per-user add-on.
- Essentials: Five users, plus routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS tracking, commissions and QuickBooks Online sync.
- Max: Eight users, plus the sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, dedicated onboarding and escalated phone support.
Trial: Fourteen days of full access on the Max plan with no credit card needed to start; a reminder comes before the trial ends and data is kept if it expires (pricing FAQ). The Housecall Pro pricing guide has the full plan matrix, annual commitments, the cost by team size, fees and what the vendor does not publish.
Limitations to check before choosing
What we observed
Hands-on verified Observed in our runs:
- A price-book line starts at zero quantity on an estimate and on a job, so the line shows a zero amount until the quantity is set.
- The invoice screen reached from a job offers print, download and send and no save control. Left without sending, it left no invoice record; sent by e-mail, it created the record at once (the invoice runs). After a cash payment was recorded, the invoices list read paid while the reopened invoice document still printed the full amount due.
- The payment dialog’s card tab holds no card form until a bank account is connected, and no sandbox or test payment mode exists.
- The review-request setup wizard puts a Google or Facebook account connection ahead of configuring automatic requests.
- The defaults do the deciding: the new-customer form’s notification box is on, a converted job is unscheduled, a new job takes an evening arrival window, and a duplicate customer saves without a prompt.
Coverage limits and documented availability
Vendor-documented The “Documented” parts below come from Housecall Pro’s own pages. Where an item says what we observed, that sentence is hands-on verified from our runs; the outcome named as not tested stays not tested:
- Invoicing and payments. Documented: estimates and invoicing and payments with consumer financing on each plan, with a starting card rate and a flat bank-payment fee on the pricing guide. Observed: an invoice opened from the job already numbered with the job’s line and total, with print, download and send as its actions and no save; sending it by e-mail created the record, so our invoice scenario completed in the retest, the customer’s service history then listed both invoices, and a cash payment was recorded against each in one step. Not tested: card processing through the vendor’s payments product, which needs a connected bank, and what a customer receives when an invoice or a receipt is sent.
- The native mobile apps. Documented: iOS and Android apps for jobs, payments, schedules and customer history. Offline, the app is view-only: it holds the user’s own assigned jobs for the current day and the next two, up to ten a day, with their details and checklists; customer history does not download, and a connection is needed to change anything, collect a payment or finish a job. Not tested: the apps were not opened, and the small-screen inspection has not been run.
- Job notes and photos, and review requests. Documented: photo reports and annotations from Essentials; review management on each plan. Observed: a private note and a photo attachment were added on the job page and saved on entry (the notes and photo runs); the review-request setup asked for a Google or Facebook account connection first, which our rules do not allow, so no request was configured (the review-request runs). Not tested: the photo-report and annotation feature itself, and the request settings behind the connection.
- Recurring service plans, reminders, exports and online booking. Documented: recurring service plans on Max; checklist automations from Essentials; online booking on each plan. Observed: the service-plan template screen was passed through while finding the price book, and nothing was configured there. Not tested: none of these scenarios has been run.
- The integrations. Documented: the QuickBooks Online sync from Essentials; QuickBooks Desktop, Gusto, CompanyCam, CallRail, Mailchimp, Wisetack, Google Local Services and Thumbtack listed without a plan; Zapier and the open API on Max. Not tested: no integration was opened or connected.

Plan availability and scope: the vendor's pricing comparison table and help documentation, checked between October 9 and October 12, 2026; the observed column: our preserved test runs, most recently October 12, 2026, each dated in its numbered note. "From" names the lowest plan the vendor documents as including the capability; "Not stated" means the vendor's pages do not say. The numbered notes under each table quote the vendor's page for the row.
- Customer records (CRM): Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-01 create customer, human-driven, completed 2026-10-11, trial account): a customer record was created from the standard synthetic fixture on one long form (contact details, address, notes, payment terms) and confirmed on the customer profile and in the All Customers list. The mobile phone field accepts only a ten-digit North American number (the fixture's seven-digit value was refused until an area code was added); the street field offers Google address suggestions, and one applied suggestion had to be overwritten by hand; 'Send notifications' is on by default for a new customer; a second customer with the same name, email and phone saved with no duplicate warning, the two records told apart only by their Company field. The customer's profile is a tabbed record (Profile, Leads, Estimates, Jobs, Invoices, Attachments, Notes); in the A-14 retest (runs 021 and 022, completed 2026-10-12) it listed the customer's estimate, three jobs and both sent invoices with their job numbers, send times, amounts and a delivery status (one e-mail later reported as bounced, the expected result for the synthetic non-deliverable address); the first sitting's A-14 runs (017 and 018) had read 'No invoices' because none had been created. The repeat pass opened the wrong one of the two identically named fixture customers first, told apart only by the Company column. CRM feature page (read 2026-10-03, unchanged 2026-10-09): centralizing customer data, tracking leads 'from first call to final invoice' and automated lead follow-up described as standard functionality; no plan restriction stated, and 'CRM' is not a line item on any pricing-page plan card.
- Scheduling: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-05 create job and A-06 schedule / reschedule job, human-driven, completed 2026-10-11, trial account): a one-off job for the standard synthetic customer with the catalog service as its line, a fixed date and a private note was created from the dashboard's new-job form (two clicks) and confirmed on the job page and in the jobs list; the form offered no field to link an existing estimate, filled a default evening arrival window, kept the account owner as the assignee and left 'Notify customer' unticked. The job page's Schedule control opens a full-screen editor with separate start and end date and time fields beside a week calendar; the first slot was set and saved, then moved to another day and time and saved again, and the new slot persisted on the job page, in the customer's Jobs tab and in the reopened editor. The editor opened with a start time that did not match the job's saved slot; picking the new day moved both dates and picking the start time set the end time an hour later; saves were immediate with no confirmation, and a referral popup appeared after one save. Pricing page (read 2026-10-03, unchanged 2026-10-09): 'Scheduling & dispatch' on the Basic plan card.
- Routing and GPS tracking: This key is routing and GPS tracking. "Scheduling & dispatch" is listed on the Basic plan card; "Routes" and "Employee GPS tracking" on the Essentials card; "Route optimization" on the Max card (read 2026-10-03). The row read true from the Basic card until 2026-10-06, when the review audit caught it against the Essentials features (DEC-080). Hands-on (A-07 assign technician, runs STS-TEST-HOUSECALLPRO-CORE-2026-013 and -014, completed 2026-10-11, trial account): a field technician added under Settings > Team & Permissions with 'Save and send invitation' (the invitation went to the synthetic address; no payment or seat prompt appeared on the Max trial) could be assigned to a job while the invitation was still pending, through an 'Edit team' dialog opened from a pencil icon beside the job's assignee; the save showed no confirmation and no notify option, and the job listed the technician as 'Assigned' with a dispatch entry in its activity feed. Routes, route optimization and GPS tracking were not exercised.
- Quotes (estimates): Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-03 create estimate and A-04 approve / convert estimate, human-driven, completed 2026-10-11, trial account): an estimate for the standard synthetic customer with the catalog service as its one line was created from the Home page's one-click shortcut, saved with 'Save estimate' as an unsent draft and confirmed on the estimate and in the estimates list; picking the service from the price book brought in its price but set the quantity to zero, so the line read $0.00 until the quantity was raised to one. Approval is the estimate's own 'Approval' step (Approve or Decline, behind a confirmation that cannot be undone) with a 'Copy to new job' option that approves and converts in one confirm; a separate 'Copy to job' action converts an estimate already approved. The converted job opened unscheduled with no date prompt and no customer message; the estimate then read 'Pro approved' with a link to the job, and the job listed the estimate as won and copied to it. After approval the estimate's header badge lagged its progress bar until the page was reopened. Pricing page (read 2026-10-03, unchanged 2026-10-09): 'Estimates & invoicing' on the Basic plan card; a paid Sales Proposal Tool is bundled into Max.
- Invoicing: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-09 create invoice, human-driven, completed 2026-10-12, trial account: the retest of runs 015 and 016, which had been left without sending and created no record). The job's invoice is reached from the job page's Invoice action or its Invoice panel's 'Send Invoice' button and opens already numbered with the job's line and total, dated the job's service date; the view offers print, download as PDF and Send, with no save or draft control. Send opens a dialog prefilled with the customer's address, a subject naming the invoice and the amount, a message and the PDF, e-mail only with no text option; Send returned the job page with a toast naming the address, the job's invoice panel carrying the number and the Invoice action captioned 'Sent to customer', and the dashboard's open-invoice count rose by one each time: on this account the invoice record is created on send. The sent invoice sat in the Invoices list as Open with a due date of the sending day ('Upon receipt') and a latest-send time; the e-mail to the synthetic non-deliverable address was later reported as bounced on the customer's Invoices tab (the A-14 runs). Pricing page (read 2026-10-03, unchanged 2026-10-12): 'Estimates & invoicing' on the Basic plan card (the quiz's result card words it 'Invoices and payments').
- Payments: Verified in our recorded first-use and repeat tests (A-10 record a payment, human-driven, completed 2026-10-12, trial account): a payment against a sent invoice is recorded from the invoice page's Pay button or the Invoices list's Pay action, in a dialog prefilled with the amount due and the customer's receipt address, with tabs Card, Cash, Check and Other and a 'Notify customer' box unticked by default. On the trial the Card tab holds no card form: it asks to connect a bank ('To receive credit and debit card payments, connect your bank to Housecall Pro.'); no sandbox or test payment mode exists. A manual cash record ('Paid - cash', no processor) marked each invoice paid within seconds: a toast, the Invoices list reading Paid with $0.00 due and the dashboard's open-invoice count falling; the reopened invoice document still printed its original amount due. Card processing through the vendor's payments product was not exercised. Pricing page (read 2026-10-03, unchanged 2026-10-12): 'Payments & consumer financing' on the Basic plan card; card processing 'as low as 2.59%', bank payments 1% fee.
- Online booking: "Online booking" is listed on the entry-level Basic plan card. (Read 2026-10-03.)
- Recurring service plans: "Recurring Service Plans" is listed on the Max plan card; it does not appear in the Basic or Essentials feature lists. (Read 2026-10-03.)
- Photo reports and annotations: "Photo reports & annotations" is listed on the Essentials plan card (carried into Max as "Everything in Essentials"); it does not appear in the Basic feature list. (Read 2026-10-03.) Hands-on (A-08 job notes and photos, runs STS-TEST-HOUSECALLPRO-CORE-2026-023 and -024, completed 2026-10-12, trial account, with a fixture deviation: a test image from the driver's Pictures folder was attached in place of the grey placeholder file): a private note and an ordinary photo attachment were added on the job page's 'Private notes' and 'Attachments' panels, committed on entry with no save step and logged in the job's activity feed; the browser's plain file dialog did the upload, with no in-product capture, annotation or report step, so 'Photo reports & annotations' itself was not exercised, and the notes panel offers no visible-to-customer switch.
- Mobile app: iOS and Android app described on the mobile-app feature page (read 2026-10-03); the vendor's pages do not state a plan restriction, and the app appears to be the standard way of accessing any subscription account.
- Accounting sync: "QuickBooks Online sync" is listed on the Essentials plan card. QuickBooks Desktop, Wisetack and Fundbox are also listed on the integrations page (https://www.housecallpro.com/integrations/) without a stated plan restriction. (Read 2026-10-03.)
- Automation: "Checklist automations" is listed on the Essentials plan card. (Read 2026-10-03.) Hands-on (A-13 configure review request, runs STS-TEST-HOUSECALLPRO-CORE-2026-027 and -028, 2026-10-12, not completed as specified): Marketing > Reviews opens a setup wizard whose steps are Connect Google, Connect Facebook, Configure automatic requests ('Send review requests after completed or paid jobs') and Choose where reviews go, and the page reads 'Connect your Google or Facebook account to Housecall Pro to get started'; the test rules do not allow connecting an outside account, so no request was configured, and whether the wizard lets the connection steps be skipped was not tried. No plan text appeared (review management is on every plan card).
- AI assistants: AI Team page (read 2026-10-03): Marketing AI, CSR AI (chat), Analyst AI, Coach AI and Help AI are "always on and included in Housecall Pro for all plans." CSR AI 24/7 call answering is a separate paid add-on ("CSR AI sold separately"; "a paid feature"), not bundled into a base plan and no price is published.

Integrations, AI and support
Integrations, automation and AI. The QuickBooks Online sync and checklist automations begin at Essentials. QuickBooks Desktop, Gusto, CompanyCam, CallRail, Mailchimp, Wisetack, Google Local Services and Thumbtack are listed on the integrations page without a stated plan; Zapier is listed there too, and the pricing FAQ places Zapier and the open API on Max, where the help center adds that only Admin users generate API keys. The API program’s own terms bind a developer to obligations a review site cannot carry, so we document the API and do not use it for testing. Marketing AI, CSR AI chat, Analyst AI, Coach AI and Help AI are described by the vendor as always on and included with the plans; CSR AI 24/7 call answering is sold separately, and no price is published for it.
Support and onboarding. Housecall Pro lists live chat seven days a week, phone support Monday to Saturday, and its Help AI chatbot around the clock, with the hours stated in Pacific time and a chat received after hours answered the next day (checked ). Basic and Essentials customers can book coaching calls with no limit on their number; Max customers schedule a call with an onboarding specialist or a dedicated support representative from the in-app chat, and the plan card lists a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support.
Housecall Pro for your trade, and alternatives
A trade decides software fit by its own workflow, not a feature list, so trade fit lives on the trade guides. For a chimney business, none of the following is verified for Housecall Pro yet: inspection reports tied to a specific chimney system (photo reports and annotations are documented from Essentials), recurring recall cycles configured to the company’s own policy (recurring service plans are documented on Max), property-level photo history that survives between visits, seasonal scheduling under concentrated load, and field documentation without a signal. Start with the chimney sweep software requirements guide, or the guides for pressure washing, window cleaning, mobile detailing and painting contractors, each reachable from the trade finder.

Jobber
- Why compare it
- The other product with recorded runs in our testing: its lowest plan also seats one user, so the step to a second user can be compared on documentation, and its recurring jobs are documented on every plan where Housecall Pro's begin on the top plan.
- Testing status
- Core testing closed: 15 of 18 core scenarios complete (latest test September 9, 2026; testing closed September 10, 2026)

QuoteIQ
- Why compare it
- An all-in-one platform that prices additional users on every plan and documents photo reports from its second plan, so seat costs and plan gates can be compared on documentation; testing not started.
- Testing status
- Not yet tested; product facts documented (latest source check October 9, 2026)
No comparative verdict yet: plan and price comparisons use dated documentation, a performance comparison needs comparable hands-on evidence for the workflows that decide it, and a less-tested product is not a worse one.

Questions buyers ask
Is Housecall Pro a reasonable option for a solo operator?
On the documentation, yes: the lowest plan lists online booking, scheduling and dispatch, estimates and invoicing, payments, a price book, job costing and review management for one user, and the trial needs no card. In our tests the customer, estimate, job, scheduling, invoice and payment steps held together on the trial. We did not take a card payment, set up a review request or open the native app; recurring service plans and the open API require the top plan.
What changes when a second person needs access?
The published path to a second user is a higher plan’s bundle, not a per-user add-on on the lowest plan: Essentials seats five, and only Max prints a per-user rate. In our tests a field technician could be added and assigned to a job on the trial without a seat prompt; that technician’s own experience, permissions and notifications were not tested.
What did you actually test about invoicing and payments?
We opened the invoice from a job in both passes of the invoice scenario: it was already numbered, with the job’s line and total, and its actions were print, download and send. There was no save control; in our first sitting we left without sending, and no invoice record existed in the account afterwards. In the retest we sent it by e-mail to our synthetic test address, which created the record at once, and the customer’s record then listed both invoices. We recorded a cash payment against each invoice through the payment dialog; its card tab asked for a bank connection first and offers no test mode, so no card was processed. Card processing remains what Housecall Pro documents.
What should a chimney business verify before choosing?
How inspection documentation attaches to a property and a chimney system, how a recurring service plan is configured to the company’s own recall interval on the top plan, and whether photo history survives between visits. None of that was tested; the chimney sweep software requirements guide lists the questions to put to a demo.
How we tested, and sources
Eleven of eighteen core scenarios were completed on a Housecall Pro trial account in two sittings, each in a first-use pass and a repeat pass driven by a person in an ordinary browser on synthetic data; one more was run and not completed because its setup needs an outside account connection, and the rest of the suite has not been run. The run-by-run record is on How we tested Housecall Pro: test results and evidence, with the coverage of the eighteen scenarios, and how we test and rank software explains the evidence rules this page follows. Housecall Pro's terms neither permit nor prohibit automated access to its interface, so under our access rule automation needs the vendor's written permission (the ruling on record: permission required) and its scenarios are driven by a person at the keyboard. Its API program is documented and not used for testing. Pricing, fee and billing sources and the introductory-rate record are on the Housecall Pro pricing guide; the sources below support the product, plan, integration and support claims on this page.
